About
Evren U. Azeloglu received his doctoral degree in biomedical engineering from Columbia University. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Pharmacology and Systems Therapeutics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He works in the field of systems biology under the tutelage of Ravi Iyengar. His research interests cover topics of cell and tissue biomechanics, cardiovascular mechanotransduction, atomic force microscopy, tissue engineering and computational modeling of cardiac electromechanics and signaling. He is the recipient of the Life Sciences Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship (2010) as well as the Hung & Huang Award (2009; granted to the top graduating doctoral candidate), Stony Wold Herbert Fund Fellowship (2005), Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Research Fellowship (2002) and University President's Award for Academic Excellence (2001) from Stony Brook University.
He enjoys heterodox conversations about politics and religion, as well as sports and exercise in all of its forms. He lives in New York City with his wife Rengin.
